Bespoke Pet Portraits

I absolutely love drawing your pets and creating special portraits that you will love and treasure forever. Wether you still have your wonderful fur friend with you or have had to say goodbye too soon I will pour love and detail into your portrait so a part of them is always just a glance away.

Even the best trained pet will struggle to stay alert and in the same position for the time it takes to create their portrait (anything from 12 hours to 30 or more!) so I work from your photos to capture their unique personalities. I draw what I see so the best reference photos can be zoomed into without losing detail (high resolution) and show all the features you want included (no missing ears!) Additionally I know how difficult it can be to get one pet to pose perfectly let alone more than one in the same photo so if you are having multiple pets I can work from seperate photos.

If you need any help choosing the perfect reference photo or aren’t sure what will work best I am happy to talk through options even before you commit to a portrait as the better the photo the more detail and better your final portrait will be. I am always happy to receive several pictures of any pet so never worry that you’re sending too many!

All you need to do is send me those gorgeous references and let me know what size portrait you would like and I will do the rest. I will give you an estimate of when your portrait will be started and shortly before I am ready I will send you an initial line drawing so you can approve the crop and placement

As I work through your portrait I will share updates on social media unless it’s a surprise and in that case you can choose to be sent updates directly or wait until the end to see the finished piece before it is mounted, wrapped and sent to you

A bit more detail…

When you book your portrait I ask for 30% of your total cost to be paid up front to secure your space, this is non refundable, and you will pay the remainder of the balance on satisfactory completion of your portrait, before it is sent to you. Payments can be made via PayPal, bank transfer or via card on my shop front on the Crafters Market UK wesbite. Installments are welcome and payment plans are available.

Once I have completed your portrait I will send you a final picture to approve and request the final balance if not already paid

Portaits are all mounted (excluding the largest size due to postage restrictions) - this involves using an acid free, archival card picture mount and backing board to mount your piece ready for framing. This will help to protect your picture as it avoids any pigment coming into direct contact with the glass of your frame and any gas build up to disperse. I recommend using ‘Art Glass’ or similar when framing as it does show off your piece to its best. UV filtering glass will also help to protect your artwork from the effects of light. Portraits should be hung away from direct light or heat/ steam.

You have 7 days from the payment of your first installment to request a cancellation and full refund. Please contact me via email to request this - sophiepatelart@gmail.com - Your place on the waiting list will be forfeit once the request is received. After 7 days and or after the portrait has been started any monies paid will be retained to cover the artists time and any work already undertaken. I want you to be 100% happy with your portrait and will work with you to resolve any issues that may arise.

I, the artist, retain full copyright of any work created. I reserve the right to display the final artwork and any work in progress pictures on social media and for use in advertising and marketing. This includes but is not limited to social media, business cards, leaflets etc. In the instance that your own photos are used as reference I will not reproduce your artwork without your prior consent for merchandise such as prints, you may not reproduce the artwork without my prior written consent. Clients who do not wish for me to share their portrait on social media must notify me upon booking and I reserve the right to refuse these commissions. If the artwork is a gift I will refrain from sharing until it has been gifted. You are of course welcome and encouraged to share your finished piece on social media and if you are able to tag me it is greatly appreciated as it will help my small business grow!
